Senegal’s digital trade is advancing through ICT goods and services exports yet shares remain modest and trail regional leaders in digitally deliverable services.

  • ICT goods exports made up 0.10% of Senegal’s trade in 2023, down from 0.41% in 2021. Despite the drop, Senegal ranked 4th in West Africa, behind Cabo Verde (0.27%), Côte d’Ivoire (0.14%), and Togo (0.14%).
    + As for ICT goods imports, they accounted for 2.12% of Senegal’s trade, a 30.3% drop from 2020. || Source: UNCTAD
  • Furthermore, in 2021, ICT services exports made up 11.27% of Senegal’s service exports, a 12.7% increase from 2019—below Côte d’Ivoire (13.82%) but above Nigeria (4.27%).
    + And, ICT services imports accounted for 2.52% of Senegal’s service trade in 2021, down 72.6% from 9.2% in 2019. || Source: UNCTAD
  • And the same year, digitally deliverable services made up 32.44% of Senegal’s service exports, trailing Ghana (77.1%).
