Ireland’s ICT sector drives rapid employment growth, high earnings, and significant tax contributions.

  • In 2022, ICT employment in Ireland accounted for 6.4% of total employment, a growth rate of 85% between 2008–2022, compared to 42% in the euro area during the same period. || Source: Central Bank of Ireland
    + The ICT sector accounts for 12% of income tax revenue, and 21.3% of corporation tax, with profits concentrated among a small number of firms.

    + Additionally, ICT employment is concentrated in the Dublin area, where multinational enterprises (MNEs) like Meta, Google, and X (ex-Twitter) have established operations. ICT workers make up 11.8% of total employment in Dublin, compared to 6.5% nationally.

  • Foreign-owned MNEs accounted for 60% of employment in the ICT sector in 2022, compared to 33% in aggregate employment.
